The Let’s PASS project is an international collaboration dedicated to making the performing arts more accessible, inclusive, and multilingual.
Developed by four partner organisations across Europe, the initiative explores new ways of creating performances that combine artistic innovation with practical accessibility tools such as QR Translator, which supports multilingual and audio-based communication.
About the Let’s PASS Project
Let’s PASS is a European initiative coordinated by Fondazione Arturo Toscanini (Italy) together with ACCAC Finland, EN Dynamei (Greece), and Studio Citadela (Czech Republic). The project develops accessible, multidisciplinary performances that combine music, theatre, dance, and visual arts, with artists with disabilities playing an active role throughout the creative process.
Co-Creation and Research
The partners began by mapping needs and identifying good practices, and consulting with schools, institutions, and accessibility specialists. Based on this research, they designed a co-creation process involving artists with disabilities, performers, and primary school students.
This process included:
- experimental workshops
- online artistic residencies
- staff training focused on accessibility
The Joy of Life
The project’s main artistic output is The Joy of Life, an inclusive, multi-sensory performance presented in five scenes.
It features a live quartet, performers, and a video orchestra, which combines live musicians with digital visuals through synchronized projected recordings.
After its debut in Parma, Italy in March 2025, the performance toured all four partner countries as the project’s pilot model for accessible, multidisciplinary creation.
Digital Accessibility with QR Codes
To support accessibility and multilingual communication, the Let’s PASS team integrated QR Translator into their posters and outreach materials. When scanned, the QR codes provide a detailed audio description of the poster: an essential feature for individuals with visual impairments who rely on verbal descriptions to access visual information.
The audio descriptions were generated with QR Translator's text-to-speech function and are available in the languages of all partner countries (English, Italian, Greek, Finnish, Czech). Audiences can access this content in their preferred language with a single scan.

As the project enters its final phase, the Let’s PASS team shared that QR Translator has become an essential tool.
The QR Translations have “proven extremely valuable” for both public communication and the documentation and reporting required by the European funding framework.
By integrating audio descriptions and translated content into their outreach materials, the team significantly improved accessibility for international audiences.
A Reference Model for Accessible Performance
Together with a set of practical guidelines for designing highly accessible artistic experiences, The Joy of Life and its co-creation process form a reference model for producing accessible performances across Europe.
